Altered Shadowbox

Hello !

Another project and this is one of the few things that I made and really liked.I tend to be VERY self critical with my projects and need a lot of reassurance from family that it is worth sharing.Poor mom and hubby.:-)

This was a set of shadowbox frames I got from a home decor store quite some time back. It's defective since the glass is missing on one of the frames, but I still grabbed it and then after waiting for ages, altered it finally.

Here's how it looks

I used the Prima Craftsman and sunrise sunset collections for this and I love them both. The ledge of the frame is covered in various washi tapes.and textured with modelling paste. On the inside i tried curling papers and creating lots of layers.I am not into layouts,so this was slightly intimidating for me but fun at the same time,if you know what I mean.I tried varous things for the first time, layering, misting with water, curling paper etc and I love the result, even if I say so myself.

There are some cutouts from the collection, flowers, jute twine and some gauze in there.

Here are some closeups

the sides

Okay, with this,I am finally up to date with everything that I have created till now.I hope to be more regular and post the projects when they are done and not ages later.:-)

Hope to see you back!

Cheers,

Altered Box with Art tiles

Hello people.

This was as usual long pending.I altered a box for my friend and never posted it here.Story of my life.:-).I shared this as a design team inspiration piece on the Crafter's Corner blog here.

Anyway,I wanted to try something new,so I decided to embellish it with handmade tiles.I used the Prima Zephyr papers that I got in a RAK.The box front and sided are all textured with modelling paste and Crafter's workshop stencils.I love using stencils! If you would like to know more about how to use them in various ways, go to the Crafter's Corner link.I have done a super detailed post on different ways to use these stencils. It's a VERYYY long post but I am hoping that it will be helpful to some people at least.:-)

Anyhow,here's my box

This is the top of the box.

I made these tiles by cutting out images from different paper collections that I had and then sticking them down on chipboard pieces. Then I covered each of them with glossy accents. Not a great job there.I am not happy with all the little dents and bubbles that I got.The tiles are all arranged on a canvas board which I also covered in some paper.I added some metal embellishments and flowers and lace and pearls. Can't do without those, can I?

The sides are textured and I have torn paper on some sides and also created some more texture with mod- podging some lace at random places.I like that effect.

Okay ,that's about it.Hope you like the box.See you soon...hopefully.:-)

Easel Card

Hello.

See how regular I am.Third post in a row.Heh heh.

Today,it's an Easel card.If you see too much blue in the past few posts, that is because I have been working on a set of things for a swap and the papers I chose were Prima Zephyr papers,so I have tried to keep everything in the same colour scheme. The swap involved an altered paper bag( which you can see here ), a card and an altered box.

Here is the card -

I have used an image from here .I have a heart doily and a scallop circle die cut behind the picture.I used some pink lace which was sent to me as a free goodie with a package by Priya of Color Conceptions store.I ruffled some lace and added some pearls to the bottom of the dress to give it some dimension. The banner is stamped, embossed and hand cut.

The flowers are all from Itsy Bitsy.

The chipboard rose is from my stash.I really don't remember which collection it is from.Could be Kaisercraft Tiger lily collection.

For the inside, I just layered two different sheets of coordinating paper, stuck a butterfly image from the net and called it done.I like this card.Bright and happy.Hope you like it too. Here are some more pictures as usual.Too bright in my opinion. It is very hot and sunny here nowadays.

The inside

Hope you like it.

Project Share : Altered Gift Bag

Hello!

Back again.:-).Today I wanted to share an altered gift/paper bag that I made for a swap.We were supposed to alter a paper bag and I could not find the regular brown grocery bags, so I bought a Kraft gift bag from Itsy Bitsy.

Here is how it looks.

I painted the front with cream acrylic paint and then adhered two different sheets of paper. One is from the Prima Zephyr collection and then I have a sheet from the Prima Sunrise and sunset collection.I tried stitching for the first time too.The image is from Graphics Fairy.I used some rosette trims and other laces from my hoard vault.:-).I love love love those rosettes.

Here are some closeups.Sorry about the lousy pictures.Everything was done in a hurry.

Okay, that's all for now. Will be back soon to share a few more projects that I made for this swap.See you soon!

Project Share : Altered Box

Hey guys,

I have been so behind in updating my blog, its not even funny.Life has been a bit hectic for the past few weeks, but I am proud to say that I have still managed to finish some of my pending projects.Yay for me! :-)

Today I wanted to share an altered box I made as a design team inspiration for Crafter's Corner challenge 7 .Oh yeah,I forgot to mention, I am now a Design team member for Crafter's corner and am truly honoured to be selected.Yay again!

The product of the month is Mod Podge,so we all had to use it and then make a projects based on the Bingo challenge setup by the very talented Hussena.
I decided to alter a box and my picks were Pattern paper,Flowers and Stamping. Here, take a look.

I used mod-Podge to cover the whole box with a pretty paper napkin that I had.I then sealed the whole box again with Mod-Podge and before it dried, sprinkled some very find glitter on it.Love the effect. For stamping I used Gold Archival ink to stamp some script and a butterfly on to the whole box.Hardly visible in the pic,but it's there. The large butterfly was embossed using gold embossing powder and so is the sentimen. The Cherub/Angel is a Christmas ornament that I found here.Rest is all flowers from various sources.I also have a small chipboard key painted in Gold between the flowers.I hung a bird charm on it.Both the charms are from Crafter's corner.I used some trims from my stash.

Here are some more pics

Hope you like this project.Do go on to Crafters corner blog and participate in this month's challenge. It will be fun,I promise.

Cheers
